Bio

Bruce A. Barker is President of Dream Home Consultants, LLC., a Jacksonville, Florida based consulting and building inspection firm. He serves Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. During over 36 years in the construction and building inspection profession, he has built more than 110 custom homes, and has inspected more than 3,000 homes. Mr. Barker is a certified Residential Combination Inspector by the International Code Council, and is a licensed contractor in multiple states. Mr. Barker is the author of books including: NHIE Home Inspection Manuals, Everybody's Building Code, and books in the Black & Decker series, such as Codes for Homeowners and Deck Codes and Standards. He is an instructor for home inspectors and contractors. Mr. Barker has served as a subject matter expert for the National Home Inspector Examination (NHIE), and has served on the NHIE exam outline development committee.
