About ASHI

ASHI upholds professional excellence throughout the industry and encourages its members to achieve the highest credentials in the field. ASHI creates advancement opportunities for its members. This is accomplished through efforts such as providing educational resources and events, presenting technical information, connecting members with prospective clients, and lobbying on Capitol Hill. By upholding professional excellence throughout its membership, ASHI strives to keep the home inspection industry at a high standard.

Membership Overview

ASHI attracts members who are committed to professional excellence. ASHI Members are leaders within the industry who come from diverse backgrounds and have robust experience. Home inspection is a profession that often attracts skilled personnel looking for a new career opportunity. Many home inspectors come from fields related or adjacent to home science, such as construction workers, electricians, HVAC specialists, and structural engineers. Many second-career inspectors use the vast wealth of knowledge and skills gained from these professions to apply to the practice of home inspection. Additionally, as the industry continues to grow and gain awareness, more individuals pursue home inspection as their first career. All these various perspectives are brought together and shared within the membership of ASHI; constantly offering insight into the technical prowess and the professional approach needed in every home inspection.

Membership Benefits

From its inception in 1976, ASHI has provided the professional foundation for its members to build successful careers upon. ASHI Members are given access to a wide range of resources and services that help propel their businesses forward through educational opportunities, referral streams, marketing collateral, lucrative programs, and exclusive communication channels. Many members join as they begin their home inspection careers, looking to ASHI for guidance and structure in the early stages of their business development. For experienced inspectors, the association offers tools to continually maintain their business plans, as well as offer advancement opportunities. As their business expands and establishes itself, many members strive for higher levels of membership that awards them credentials and continued opportunities to differentiate themselves as seasoned, prominent members throughout the industry, and among the real estate market.

Industry Efforts

ASHI was a pioneering force in establishing home inspection as a legitimate profession and viable occupation. Today, the organization remains a key factor in progressing the industry through a variety of endeavors.

ASHI Government Affairs (AGA)

ASHI Government Affairs' purpose is to help support the candidacies of members of Congress who understand and appreciate the home inspection profession. AGA works closely with federal policy makers on Capitol Hill and in the federal agencies to advance the interests of home inspection and home inspectors.

Conferences

ASHI hosts InspectionWorld, the premier home inspection conference that brings the best and brightest from around the world to instruct, discuss, and exhibit the trends emerging in the industry. ASHI Chapters host regional conferences that cover more localized topics and issues, which ASHI national always eager to participate in. These conferences give ASHI and its members the opportunities to network with affiliates, peers, colleagues, and industry leaders alike.

Publications

Between its monthly magazine the ASHI Reporter and the online Newsroom, ASHI keeps its members and various other interested parties up-to-date on the current events and developments of the home inspection industry. Beyond its own media, ASHI Members and leadership is often asked to represent the industry, commenting in accordance to bring awareness to the home inspection profession.
