Announcing ASHI@School

The ASHI School of Home Inspection now offers classroom training as well as the correspondence course, ASHI@Home. The new addition is called ASHI@School, and it will be delivered through an agreement with ITA – details to come. The school will continue to expand in response to the demand from the growing home inspection profession.

Attention Chapter leaders

Checks for chapters are being cut

Fifteen chapters have checks on the way to fund local ASHI Experience activities. The money comes from the $50 of ASHI Experience dues allotted for chapters to help members qualify to deliver The ASHI Experience and to locally promote the brand. Approval Forms can be found on the Chapter CD under Chapter Funding and Activities Guidebook, and on the Web site under Downloads on the Member-ship Extranet. Is your chapter one of the 65 that has money coming? If so, why wait?
Submit your form and collect.

Discuss how to use Chapter CD

Now that chapters have received the The ASHI Experience CD and have started to review the contents, Bob Kociolek, ASHI director of chapter relations, is inviting leaders to participate in a conference call to discuss how the material can be used. He’s scheduled a call with the leaders of Pro ASHI and welcomes requests from other chapters. Contact him at HQ (bobk@ashi.org).

Training available to chapters

Bob Kociolek plans to conduct five Chapter Leadership Training Workshops, free on request. The two-hour training is designed to prepare future local leaders. He will travel to your location if 15 or more attendees are guaranteed. Interested? Contact Bob at HQ (bobk@ASHI.org). He’s scheduling on a first-come, first-served basis.

Termidor is offering chapters free pest control seminars

The sessions will be approved for one or two MRCs, depending on length. Brochures explaining the program are being mailed to chapter presidents.

Board hosts townhall gathering in Georgia

Marietta Conference Center, Marietta, Ga., will be the site of the annual town hall gathering and reception on July 16. The ASHI Board of Directors will meet on July 17. The summer board meeting is held away from Chicago in a variety of locations to give the Member-ship an opportunity to attend both. For information, contact HQ.

New on the Web site

  • The answer key for the bedroom print ad now is available in the general public area of ashi.org.
  • ASHI applied for and received permission to post the Better Business Bureau Online Reliability Seal on the Web site. Click on the seal to learn about the Bureau.

How is The ASHI Experience working for you?

HQ is already receiving re-orders for consumer brochures and every week, 400 to 500 customer surveys are being returned by mail or online. We have reason to believe there is good news to share, and we’d love to hear how The ASHI Experience is working for you so we can share your positive techniques with others. E-mail your experience to sandyb@ashi.org.

New Code of Ethics now available

ASHI’s first new Code of Ethics became effective June 13, 2004. It is posted on the ASHI Web site. The latest version of the Standards of Practice pamphlet includes the new Code of Ethics. Order a supply today from Russell Daniels at HQ.
Many of the replies to previous Requests for Interpretation (RIFs) will apply to the revised Code. If you have questions, please review RIFs posted on www.ashi.org in the Membership Extranet. If existing RIFs do not address your question, download a form and submit your request to the Ethics Committee.
