Certification Committee

The ASHI Certification Committee plays a crucial role in overseeing the certification program for the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). This committee ensures that the certification aligns with industry standards, maintains its integrity, and provides value to certified professionals and the public as set forth by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)

Main Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Policy Review: Participate in reviewing certification policies and procedures annually. Contribute to the comprehensive two-year cycle review of all program policies.
  • Program Oversight: Help evaluate eligibility requirements, exam standards, and recertification policies. Review and provide feedback on the program budget.
  • Internal Audit Participation: Support or review findings from the certification program’s annual internal audit. Ensure adherence to policies regarding applications, confidentiality, and conflict-of-interest management.
  • Disciplinary and Appeals Actions: Review and decide on disciplinary cases involving certification holders. Address appeals related to adverse eligibility, recertification decisions, or exam administration.
  • Certification Exam Oversight: Contribute to the monitoring of the exam in compliance with NCCA accreditation standards. Ensure the exam meets professional and industry needs.
  • Subcommittee and Task Force Involvement: Serve on or lead subcommittees or task forces for specialized certification projects or areas of focus.

Certification Committee members must be current ACIs. Elections are held yearly for a 3-year term. Each year, two committee members are voted into the committee. The certification committee meets quarterly to support the ACI credential and its regular maintenance and tasks.
