Directors Assist with Renewal

by Edited by ASHI Staff January 1, 2009

ASHI directors participated in the 2009 renewal campaign by calling ASHI members who had not renewed as of December 1, 2008.

The leaders shared their personal reasons for belonging to the society and encouraged the ASHI Certified Inspectors, Associates with Logo-use and
Associates to continue to keep their names before the public on the ASHI Web site, to receive the ASHI Reporter, to benefit from ASHI’s public relations program educating consumers on the full range of ASHI home inspector services, to participate in a chapter, and to have access to education and training programs.

Council Reps: Note Important Dates

Jan. 20, 2009, CoR Meeting, 1-5 p.m., Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Jan. 23, 2009, Annual Business Meeting, 8-9 a.m., Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Representing your chapter at the one council meeting a year is an important part of a council representative’s job. If you are a representative who cannot attend, the chapter can designate an alternate. Request the form to do this from HQ@ashi.org.

Calling All Chapter Presidents: Info Needed

To ensure chapter information on file is current, we’re asking all chapter presidents to e-mail their name and contact information, plus the name and contact information for the person who serves as the primary contact for your chapter to Russell K. Daniels at russelld@ashi.org.

In many chapters, the president is the only contact person, but some chapters designate an additional person to handle inquiries. Therefore, there are two fields available in the database for each chapter, so please help us update or confirm the information for both fields.

Continuing Education Audit Begins in January

ASHI staff is charged with conducting a Continuing Education (CE) hours audit each year in January. A list of 300-400 Members and Associates is randomly generated from our database. The people on the list are required to turn in documentation supporting the CE hours they claimed. Documentation can include certificates of completion, invoices, certificates of attendance, etc. If the documentation does not verify the required number of hours, the inspector fails the audit and is placed on Administrative Suspension. He or she remains suspended until the proper documentation is received at ASHI headquarters.

Be prepared: We encourage you to keep your certificates in one place throughout the year so if you’re audited, compiling the information will be fast and easy. Questions? Contact sarahw@ashi.org.
