This class provides an overview of residential plumbing drain, waste, and vent (DWV) system requirements. Learners will gain the knowledge needed to identify common defects and understand the reasons these conditions are considered deficient.   • Define common residential plumbing terminology.
  • Explain the purpose of typical plumbing system requirements.
  • Identify common types of drain, waste, and vent (DWV) piping used in residential plumbing systems.
  • Describe basic installation requirements for DWV pipes and fittings.
  • Describe basic installation requirements for traps and venting systems.
  • Describe basic installation requirements for plumbing fixtures.
  • Describe basic installation requirements for backwater valves, sewage ejectors, and sump pumps.
