5 Reasons to Attend IW ’22

With InspectionWorld 2022 coming back in person, we are more than excited to be back in conference mode again. In-person events are so enriching, as you get to experience the best of educational offerings as well as rub shoulders with other attendees between events.

Serious Commitments

Education is a big deal for Jazz Schools. The 30-year-old joined ASHI in March 2021 as education administrator, but it’s his time in the military that ignited his love of learning and brought him to where he is today.

Shifting the Focus on Social Media

Over the past few months, you may have noticed a shift in the content being posted on ASHI’s social media. Instead of posting content directly related to home inspection, ASHI has created content discussing the larger real estate market topics. A key detail about this content is that it is designed specifically for consumers who are in the market to buy a home—or, in other words, the potential clients of our members.

Honoring Veterans Day 2021

Every year I try to share an experience with other veterans. I usually show some old 126 Instamatic photo I took while in service with a little caption. Occasionally, another vet will post a photo or experience to share. I appreciate that many non-vets write back to show their support for the ones who’ve served.

Preparing Your Furnace for Cold Weather

With colder days starting to trickle in, it’s that time of the season to start cranking up the thermostat. After chilly days spent at the pumpkin patch or the farmer’s market, nothing beats returning to a lovely toasty home to warm up again. Before winter comes in full force, early Autumn is a great time to prep your furnace to make sure everything is working correctly.

Home Inspections vs. Home Appraisals

One of the most common questions that new homebuyers have is: what is the difference between the real estate appraisal and the home inspection? While they are both critical steps of the home buying process, they each serve a different purpose.

Home Upgrades: When to Splurge and When to Save

Home renovations can increase your home’s functionality. Also, many buyers are attracted to updated features. However, it’s essential to keep your budget in mind. Here are some tips to help you decide when to splurge or save.

The Homebuyer’s Guide to Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is a term to describe how a home reduces unnecessary or excessive energy consumption, cuts down on harmful greenhouse gas emissions, and reduces dependency on nonrenewable resources. While modern construction standards require newer homes to be built with greater energy efficiency, even older homes can implement upgrades to improve their energy efficiency.

Lessons Learned

As I approach the end of my term as your ASHI President, I find myself thinking about what I have learned. I hope that future leaders, whether in ASHI or in home inspection businesses, find these thoughts helpful. I don’t claim that these thoughts are original, which leads to the first thought: be humble.
