Upcoming Avenues for ASHI
From the Desk of the 2021 President-Elect

For those of you who I have not had the pleasure of meeting yet, my name is John Wessling, President-Elect 2021. Exciting times are ahead for ASHI, and I wanted to share some things happening and other projects on the horizon.
The ASHI School is again conducting in-person classes. Would you please suggest to those interested in becoming a Home Inspector that they look at our courses online or in-person at The ASHI School? These programs are a fantastic learning opportunity for those wanting to enter the profession and start a new career as a home inspector.
If you are new to the industry yourself, ask the Membership Department about the list of mentors who have stepped forward to assist with field experience and other aspects of building successful inspection businesses. The Mentoring Program continues to grow. New participants are signing up every day. Mentoring is valuable for all of us, regardless of our level of expertise. We can all share knowledge, and we can all always learn something new. When was the last time you shared some wisdom with another inspector? This program is also a fantastic opportunity for our experienced Home Inspectors to help others build a lasting legacy.
The Education Department has been busy working on different initiatives. The addition of Carrie Maddox and Angela Hall brings a wealth of expertise in designing educational courses to enrich our members’ educational experience. These key hires have come at the right time, as The ASHI Edge will be released later this year; this platform will provide approved courses that earn you credit toward your ASHI continuing education and state licensing requirements.
InspectionWorld (IW 2022) returns after taking a year off due to Covid restrictions. IW 2022 will be held from January 16-19, 2022, at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. There will be several education tracks offering courses for inspectors of all experience levels. After class, unwind and relax in the resort, which blends home-style comforts with top-notch hotel amenities across its 60 acres. This year, IW will have a different look and feel. We hope to create an atmosphere where attendees can network with fellow inspectors and our affiliate vendors throughout the whole conference. As a bonus, Walt Disney World is just 1.5 miles from the Caribe, and IW22 attendees qualify for special pricing to the parks during our conference.
New office space. We are in the process of looking for a new home. Over the last few years, we have realized that our current building no longer meets our needs. We appreciated our time at this location, but it’s also exciting to plan for the future of ASHI and its needs.
An essential shout-out to our volunteers. Thank you for your behind-the-scenes work to support ASHI. Without all your efforts, ASHI would not be the organization it is today. On behalf of the ASHI Leadership, I want to extend my gratitude to you and the service you offer to our association. If you are interested in finding out about the volunteer opportunities available, please do not hesitate to reach out.
I look forward to meeting you at upcoming events!
Please feel free to reach me at wesslingjohn2@gmail.com with any questions.
