Thinking About Taking the IRC Exam?

Get Ready at InspectionWorld

Whether or not you choose to reference code in your inspection reports, knowing code provides you with minimum criteria for assessing new construction and can be helpful in evaluating conditions found in existing homes. Also, passing the International Residential Code Examination adds to your list of
professional credentials.

This year, InspectionWorld attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an 18-hour course to prepare for the International Residential Code Exam. The course will be the only option in the Special Topics Track and will run
during Conference education hours.

This 18-hour fast-paced course—designed for the experienced inspector— covers all sections of the IRC and will familiarize you with where to find all relevant information for taking the exam. Topics covered include building, heating and air conditioning, plumbing and electrical. Practice exams also will be included in the course curriculum. Because this is typically a 72-hour course, participants should expect to study an additional 50 hours before taking the exam, using the materials provided.

In addition to InspectionWorld registration, there is an additional charge of $130 for a loose-leaf copy of the 2003 International Residential Code and the 2003 International Residential Code Study Companion. Participants will need to sign up for either the Full Conference/IRC Plan or the Conference Education/IRC Plan on the InspectionWorld Registration Form.

One-stop shopping for MRCs and CEUs: InspectionWorld education

InspectionWorld 2006 will host four different educational tracks offering more than 27 unique topics, spanning 72 hours of conference programming. The four tracks––Back to Basics, Commercial & Special Topics, Advanced Technical, and Business Development & Service––were developed to ensure that all InspectionWorld attendees, regardless of experience or educational needs, can walk away better prepared to be a more successful home inspector.

This year, headquarters received a phenomenal number of proposals for educational sessions and, by working with the Education Committee, was able to review and select the best programs to suit the educational needs of InspectionWorld attendees.
