Spread the ASHI Word
Spread the ASHI Word
Want to make a difference? Then spread the word: ASHI is
the oldest home inspection organization in existence. All the other home inspection organizations were started long after ASHI blazed the trail.
Where did all the Standards of Practice that are being used by other organizations come from? Well, if you look closely, they sort of follow the ASHI Standards—maybe not word for word but pretty close.
You can make a difference by letting everyone you come in contact with know who you are: an ASHI Home Inspector, someone who has to pass a Proctored Test, and one who has to turn in Continuing Education hours every year to keep your ASHI membership.
If you are an ASHI Certified Home Inspector, let them know that in order to be classified as certified you must earn that designation from an independent third-party organization.
Do you belong to a chapter, and do you let your customers know that you have regular meetings with educational sessions so you keep up with the latest products and inspection techniques? Do you take time to explain to your customers, Realtors and anyone else that you talk to about home inspections that you are a member of ASHI?
Try something else tomorrow: Get each one of your fellow ASHI Inspectors to like you on LinkedIn and Twitter; post something unusual that happened on an inspection on YouTube. You can even try Facebook. I’m not talking about all the silly stuff that some people post but professional ideas about home inspections and why it’s important that homebuyers, homeowners, Realtors and the general public know who we are. The internet is one place where you can get a lot of exposure, and all it takes is a little time to brag on yourself about your credentials.
The ASHI Gold Standard is something to
be proud of, and the more you sing the
ASHI praises, the more recognized you
and ASHI will be.
You know how hard you worked for the ASHI membership and that you’re an ASHI Certified Home Inspector, don’t keep it a secret.
