Pence Reports on Proposed RESPA Regulation

Randall Pence, ASHI’s Washington lobbyist, has alerted the ASHI membership to a number of issues that have the potential to affect the home inspection business.
Members have been alerted to the issues through e-mail and encouraged to participate in grass-roots support for efforts that are positive for consumers and the profession. Watch for and be ready to respond to future e-mails from HQ with important news about congressional and Department of Housing and Urban Development activities.

Rebuilding Together needs (more than) a few good ASHI volunteers

Rebuilding Together, the nation’s leading non-profit organization in home rehabilitation and preservation of affordable homeownership, is engaged in a strong national response to the devastation created in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Through its Rebuild 1000 initiative, Rebuilding Together is committed to rebuilding 1,000 homes in the Gulf, from the coast of Mississippi to southeast Texas. Sign up for Monthly Membership Recruitment Reports

Thank you to the chapters that responded to the reminder that all chapters are entitled to receive a list of new ASHI members and prospects in their area every month. If you haven’t already done so, please confirm or update the contact information for the person in your chapter who should be receiving this valuable recruiting tool. Send the information to Sarah Walsh at sarahw@ashi.org.
Also contact Sarah if you need a list of chapter members who have paid dues, but are on administrative suspension for failure to submit CE hours.

Chapter Vitality Reports needed ASAP

They’ve been coming in, but we need more Chapter Vitality Reports. Chapter presidents, council representatives or others assigned can complete the report in less than 30 minutes. The information is vital to the Chapter Relations Committee’s ability to assist chapters. If you haven’t already done so, please return your reports to Bob Kociolek at bobk@ashi.org. Warning: We will keep “reminding” you until you comply.

Chapter bylaws reviewed for you

All chapter bylaws and rules must be in compliance with ASHI bylaws and policy. New chapters must submit their bylaws to HQ and legal counsel for review. Existing chapters, if they haven’t recently done so, must submit their existing bylaws and proposed amendments or other changes for review. Questions? Contact Bob Kociolek at bobk@ashi.org or 847-954-3177.
