The ASHI Chapter Enterprise Award

Enrichment, fun, camaraderie, rewards and $750 — The ASHI Chapter Enterprise Award for Participation at InspectionWorld can mean that and more for the members of two chapters that finish at the top of their respective categories.

It was established and funded by an ASHI Certified Inspector who attributes his personal success as a home inspector and the prosperity of his multi-inspector firm to the ideas and information acquired by regularly attending InspectionWorld for many years.

The guidelines are available here.

Standards Committee Welcomes Proposals

The Standards Committee continues to accept proposals to change the ASHI Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics related to the standards. The committee welcomes proposals from all interested parties. All proposals should cite the Standards section that would change, propose revised wording for that section and provide a rationale supporting the change.

Send your proposal to the Standards of Practice Committee, Bruce Barker, chair, inspectorbruce@cox.net.

2011 ASHI Officers

Attention ASHI Certified Inspectors
Through August 16, 2010, the Society is accepting nomination matrix forms for the officer positions of president-elect, vice president, secretary and treasurer for 2011.

Any ASHI Certified Inspector (ACI) in good standing may be nominated to any office. Self-nominations are permitted and all nominees must agree to serve if elected. ASHI Nominating and Election Guidelines require that all nominations include a completed Matrix for Evaluating Nominees.

The official matrix is available here. The matrix also can be obtained by contacting ASHI headquarters by phone, 847-759-2820, or e-mail, hq@ashi.org.
As nominations are received at HQ, the staff will verify that all nominees have agreed to serve and have submitted the necessary background information, including a response to all matrix questions. HQ will verify the nominees’ status as ACIs in good standing.

Nominations will close Aug. 16, 2010, and all nomination information will be distributed to the following members of the Officers Nominating Committee:

John Biegalski, Ed Massart,
Jack Feldmann, Phillip Smith, Scott Dalbey,
Shannon Cory,
Bill Sutton and Keven Kossle
r

A petition of 10 percent of ACIs in good standing can cause the name of a qualified ACI to be added to the ballot for a specific office (see P&P 15.A2).

Ballots will be e-mailed or mailed to ACIs by Nov. 1, 2010, and the election will close Dec. 6, 2010. Ballots will be counted the first week in December and election results will be published in the January 2011 issue of the ASHI Reporter.

Comments and questions about the nomination process are welcomed. Please contact ASHI at hq@ashi.org.

2011 Certification Committee Members

The Officers Nominating Committee also functions as the nominating committee for the Certification Committee.

1. Each year, two ASHI Certified members will be nominated by the Officers Nomination Committee and elected by secret ballot of the membership in the manner stated in 7.2.2. Petition candidates are eligible in the manner stated in 7.2.4.

2. Each year, one ASHI Certified member will be appointed by the President-Elect and approved by the Board.

3. One public member shall be appointed for a two (2) year term by the six (6) ASHI Certification Committee members.
