Hurricane relief
No doubt, you’ve seen the devastation in Florida caused by Hurricanes Charley, Frances and Ivan and, at this writing, you’re likely hearing about the possibility of another one reaching Florida.
In effort to provide some measure of assistance to our more than 450 ASHI Members and Candidates in Florida – the hardest hit by these recent storms – ASHI will provide a one-month extension for the 2004-2005 dues. Payment, originally due September 30, will now be due by October 31.
Stephen Gladstone, ASHI president, and the entire board of directors are concerned about the Florida membership. They want these them—especially those who have faced damage to their homes, loss of work or other disruptions—to know that they are all in their thoughts and prayers.
If these ASHI Members and Candidates were required to submit Membership Renewal Credits (MRCs) in order to renew, the deadline to submit their MRC Claim Form has also been moved back to October 31, 2004.
It comes in the mail, but can be paid online
The final notice of the annual dues for membership in ASHI will reach those who have not paid mid-month. Members and Candidates have the option of paying their dues in two or three installments (with a small service charge).
All those who need to report MRCs will receive a claim form with the dues notice. If you do not receive a form, you do not need to file one.
Snyder first Membership & Marketing Director
Anthony E. Snyder joined the ASHI staff on August 19 as the Society’s first director of membership and marketing.
Previously, he served in two positions, as the director of fraternal and communications at the Naperville, Ill.-based National Fraternal Congress of America, 1997-2004, and as the vice president of Join Hands Day, 1999-2004, a national day of volunteering sponsored by the National Fraternal Congress. Prior to that, he served in various marketing and communications capacities with the Slovene National Benefit Society, an ethnic-based fraternal benefit society in Pittsburgh, and the Morning Journal, a daily newspaper in Lisbon, Ohio.
Snyder hit the ground running, ramping up ASHI’s marketing and membership plans.
2005 Officer and Director elections
The deadline for receiving Officer and Director nomination matrices was August 31,
2004. Separate nomination committees reviewed matrices. The Officer Nomination Committee will present a slate to Members on October 31, 2004, and the slate prepared by the Director Nomination Committee will be mailed to Council Representatives on the same date. Voting will close December 5, 2004.

Attention Floridians–represent ASHI at NAR® in Orlando
The booth is going to be bigger and better, but it will be the volunteers working in that booth who will carry the ASHI message to attendees at the National Association of Realtors® conference this November in Orlando. Angela Orlando will be working with Florida chapters to schedule volunteers for November 5-8, 2004. Let your chapter president know if you’re willing to work in the booth.
ASHI recognizes CREIA and TAREI credentials
ASHI welcomes as Members Certified Inspector Members of the California Real Estate Inspectors Association (CREIA) and Professional Inspectors in the Texas Association of Real Estate Inspectors (TAREI). In most cases, report verification is all that is necessary for inspectors with those credentials to become ASHI Members. Contact ASHI Membership Department for specifics.
