Membership Renewal Tops Last Year

by Edited by ASHI Staff March 1, 2009

ASHI renewed 85 percent of its members for 2008-09, 8 percent more than renewed for 2007-08.

ASHI Certified Inspectors: 3,447
Associates with Logo Use: 140
Associates: 1,402
Affiliates: 78
Retired Members: 129
Total membership: 5,196

It appears home inspectors find ASHI membership especially valuable during these challenging economic times.

Council Representatives voting for members to serve on Nomination Committees

Council Representatives who volunteered at the January COR meeting to serve on either the Officers Nomination Committee or the Directors Nomination Committee received a matrix by e-mail from Jeff Arnold.

Matrices that were returned by end-of-business day February 20 were sent to Council Representatives to select members for each of the committees. This election closes March 31.

Once elected, the members of the Officers Nomination Committee will review the matrices submitted for officer positions and slate one nominee for each position. This ballot, with any additional petition candidates, will be presented to ASHI voting members. The members of the Director Nomination Committee will do the same for those seeking director positions. Council Representatives will vote for five new directors.

For more information on the election process, see section 10 of the Council Policy and Procedure manual.

Continuing Education Audit is Underway

ASHI staff is charged with conducting a Continuing Education (CE) hours audit each year in January. A list of 100 ASHI Certified Inspectors and Associates is randomly generated from our database. The people on the list are required to turn in documentation supporting the CE hours they claimed. Documentation can include certificates of completion, invoices, certificates of attendance, etc. If the documentation does not verify the required number of hours, the inspector fails the audit and is placed on Administrative Suspension. He or she remains suspended until the proper documentation is received at ASHI headquarters.

Calling All Chapter Presidents: Info Needed

To ensure chapter information on file is current, we’re asking all chapter presidents to e-mail their name and contact information, plus the name and contact information for the person who serves as the primary contact for the chapter, to Russell Daniels at russelld@ashi.org.

Chapter presidents also have been asked to forward a copy of the chapter’s financial statement so ASHI can bind Directors and Officers Liability coverage for the chapter. Chapters should include a minimum of the amount of cash on hand and annual revenues and expenses.

If your chapter has not done so, please, contact Dick Bennett at 847-954-3183 or richardb@ashi.org.
