Membership Renewal Credit policy modified

by Edited by ASHI Staff January 1, 2003

At  the July 2002 meeting of the Board of Directors, ASHI policy  was modified after due consideration of the Education and Membership Committees concerning Membership Renewal Credits. It was decided that environmental educational issues, especially where other professional licenses for such additional services are possible, are not germane to the ASHI Standards of Practice. The SOP specifically states that environmental issues are excluded from the Standards. Thus, effective immediately

ASHI will no longer be granting full MRC (Membership Renewal Credits) approval for Radon, Indoor Air Quality (Mold), and Termites & Other Wood Destroying Insect courses. Such courses will be granted a maximum of 2 MRCs per course. Members and Candidates will only be allowed a cumulative total of 2 MRCs for Radon, Indoor Air Quality (Mold), and Termites & Other Wood Destroying Insect courses.
ASHI will still honor any environmental courses that received MRC approval prior to October 1, 2002.

All course outlines are reviewed to determine how many ASHI MRCs can be issued. Many education offerings are available and are worthwhile. However, their value, relative to the practice of home inspection, must be considered when determining whether or not they receive full MRC approval.
