Education
High-Efficiency Gas Furnaces Webcast Presented by ASHI Past-President Alan Carson

The monthly, two-hour training webcasts offered through the ASHI e-learning Catalog continued with “High-Efficiency Gas Furnaces,” broadcast on October 24.
Presented by ASHI Past President Alan Carson, the program examined high-efficiency gas furnaces in detail. It started with the basics of identification and moved into defect recognition. The sequence of operation was looked at in detail, and each component was broken down and examined separately.

Alan Carson, ACI, has been an owner of Carson Dunlop and involved in the home inspection industry since 1978. Carson Dunlop is the author of the ASHI@Home system and the Smart Track continuing education program.

ASHI members earn 2 CEs for attending these monthly webcasts, which are rebroadcasts of sessions at IW Phoenix.

Clarifications and Corrections

When there was still time to request a petition form, the following corrections and clarification was sent to all those eligible to do so.

Any voting member wishing to run for an officer position can do so if he or she submits a completed matrix and properly signed petition to ASHI headquarters by 12:00 noon Central time, October 21, 2012.

Additional requirements can be found in ASHI Bylaw 7.2.4 and ASHI Policy 15.8A.

Any council representative wishing to run for a director position can do so if he or she submits a completed matrix and properly signed petition to ASHI headquarters by 12:00 noon Central time, October 21, 2012.

All petition candidates must obtain a petition form by contacting ASHI headquarters. This direct contact provides ASHI with a record of members who have requested a petition form, the names of whom ASHI is required to publish the last week of September and the second week of October.

No petition forms had been requested by publication date.

ASHI Reporter
Advertising Rate Card now Available

The 2012-13 advertising rate card is available or email sandyb@ashi.org. Please share it with anyone who might be interested in reaching the home inspector market. Advertisers and contributors allow us to bring you the Reporter online (www.ashireporter.org) and in print at no cost to the Society.

Your Input is Valued

To publish the Reporter, ASHI depends on members who are willing to share their knowledge and experiences with other home inspectors. Chapter news and photos, letters and Postcards From the Field are all welcomed. Inspection-related success stories, safety tips, business and technical articles that are of interest to inspectors are vital to the magazine.
The ASHI Technical Committee reviews technical submissions for level of interest and accuracy. So, we recommend authors submit their ideas for technical articles and request feedback from the committee before writing the article.
