Wal-Mart TV network to air ASHI PSA in stores this September
Wal-Mart TV network chose ASHI’s public service announcement (PSA) for its in-store television programming. The spot is scheduled to run for the month of September in stores across the country, putting the ASHI name and message in front of millions of viewers. Wal-Mart is only one of the major retailers that obtains in-store programming from the Premier Retail Network (PRN). PRN is working with WestGlen, the distributor of ASHI’s PSA, so it’s possible it will also be picked up by major retailers such as Best Buy, Circuit City, Costco, SAM’S Club, Sears and ShopRite.

“CBS Early Show” identifies ASHI as resource for professional home inspectors
ASHI was the only home inspector organization mentioned as a resource for professional home inspectors March 4, 2005, on the “CBS Early Show.” Viewers were directed to the ASHI.org link on CBSNews.com, where they could also watch the streaming video and read the story, “1001 Home Buying and Selling Tips.”

ASHI article appears in REALTOR® magazine

“7 Home Inspection Myths,” based on an interview with Rob Paterkiewicz, ASHI executive director, appeared in the March print and online issues of
REALTOR® magazine.

Norman widely quoted
When the press release, “Home Inspection Outlook for 2005 is Strong, New ASHI President Sees Expansion in Home Inspection Needs,” was distributed via PRNewswire, it began showing up on Web sites almost immediately.
MarketWatch posted the full release on February 15, 2005, and other sites soon followed.

The release featured Don Norman, ASHI’s new president, and carried his prediction “for growth for his profession in 2005 based on current housing statistics and increasing needs for home inspection services.”

ASHI Members featured

ASHI Member Paul Luczyk, A Team Home Inspection, Mukileo, Wash., was interviewed by a reporter from the Seattle Times Sunday Real Estate section about how to find a good home inspector, and why to choose an ASHI Member.
ASHI Member Ken Moon, Colorado Home Inspectors, Colorado Springs, Colo., reports, “I never miss a chance to tout ASHI to my audience.” For the past 12 years, he has broadcast a home improvement show, “Around the House,” on a regional syndication network (Flagship Clear Channel KHOW, Denver) Saturday 9-11 a.m.

Sightings

It’s a pleasant surprise when you turn on the television or pick up a publication and there’s ASHI. And it’s fun to share those random sightings with others. Here are two recent reports:

ASHI Member Max Curtis, MaxInspect, Livermore, Calif., saw the ASHI public service announcement (PSA) featuring Rob Paterkiewicz, ASHI executive director, while watching the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” late-night show on ABC.

ASHI Director Jim Rooney, Free State Home Inspections, Annapolis, Md., reported a reference to ASHI on page 204 of the February issue of Reader’s Digest in the article “4 ways to boost our home’s value.”
