Lobbying for Legislation
State capitols can be foreign territory to anyone not involved in politics. Yet many ASHI Members have become familiar with the workings of their state legislative bodies to try to influence local legislation governing their profession. Those who carried the banner during this last year deserve recognition for their hard work.
Pete Engle, Garden State ASHI, New Jersey may be the person who had the greatest impact on critical state legislation, but volunteers were working equally hard in the following states. Listed below are just a few of the many volunteers.
Alabama – Bill Loden
Indiana – Tim Tucker and Danny Maynard,
Indiana ASHI
Iowa – Greg Guyler
New Mexico – Bill Richardson,
New Mexico ASHI
New York – Keith Oberg, Central NY ASHI
North Dakota – Glen Naumann
Pennsylvania – Joe Kelly, Keystone ASHI; and
Jack Milne, Tri-State ASHI
