Re: LEGISLATIVE ALERT

Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a landmark decision affecting large parts of the campaign finance laws. You may have heard this reported in the news.

This is to inform you that the ruling has no impact on InspectPAC, InspectPAC fundraising, or InspectPAC contributions to candidates for office.

In summary, the Supreme Court ruling upholds the McCain-Feingold ban on “soft” money. However, InspectPAC deals exclusively with “hard” money, which will continue as before.

If anything, the ruling increases the value of InspectPAC contributions in relative terms.

remains a valuable tool for ASHI Membership to band together and help elect candidates who understand the need for a strong, vibrant home inspection profession.

In fact, as we approach the critical 2004 elections, you may expect action by ASHI to expand the ability of Membership  to contribute to the PAC, and have fun while doing so.

Thank you for your kind attention and support for InspectPAC.

Q&A on InspectPAC

What is the purpose of InspectPAC?

InspectPAC-logo.gif InspectPAC raises money to help elect and re-elect candidates to Congress who have an understanding of the home inspection profession, and who are supportive of our profession. InspectPAC encourages participation in the political process by pooling financial re-sources to help elect qualified federal candidates whose views and voting records reflect the interests of ASHI and its Membership. InspectPAC membership promotes responsibility in government and encourages participation of the ASHI Membership in the political and elective process.

How do I become a member and what are the benefits?

To join InspectPAC, your company must first file an “authorization to solicit” form.
Your company’s chief executive officer or principal ASHI company contact must sign it. Your authorization to solicit may only be granted to one association per calendar year.

Following receipt of this authorization, you then may contribute to InspectPAC by simply filling out the  donor form and mailing it back to InspectPAC with your check or credit card authorization.

To obtain the “authorization to solicit” form, please contact ASHI HQ:

InspectPAC
932 Lee Street
Des Plaines, IL 60016

By law, InspectPAC may accept personal contributions only; no corporate contributions are allowed. Also by law, PAC contributions are not tax-deductible.
