Key provisions of the Stimulus Package impacting home inspectors

Randall Pence, Esq., Capitol Hill Advocates, Inc., has identified and highlighted specific provisions in the Stimulus Package that may impact or provide opportunities for ASHI members. This report was made available to ASHI members only. Go to www.HomeInspector.org, Members Only, Resources, Latest News.

It’s here: Pre-Paid Legal program for ASHI members

ASHI President Bill Richardson has used the same prepaid legal program for years, and he thought other members might find it as valuable as he has, especially if bringing it on as an endorsed program would allow members to have it at a discounted price. Now it’s available to you. Call Joan Buckner at 505-821-3971. Learn about all ASHI-Endorsed Programs on HomeInspector.org under Resources, Partners.

Standards exam now education module

What was once the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics Examination, a necessary step for becoming an ASHI Certified Inspector, is now the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics education module. The change was made to prepare ASHI for becoming recognized by a third party as an accrediting body for certification.

The module remains a requirement for full ASHI membership and continues to be available on the ASHI Home Inspector Web site, now at no additional cost.

Nominating Committees formed

The vote to elect members of the Officers Nominating Committee closed on March 31. Results were announced in the April issue of First Thing, the electronic monthly newsletter for ASHI leadership.

Enough matrices were received for the Directors Nominating Committee; therefore an election is not required.

For more information on the election process, see Section 10 of the Council Policy and Procedure manual.

Who gets monthly membership recruitment reports?

The membership department distributes a list of new members and prospects monthly to chapters for recruitment purposes.

Please confirm or update the contact information for the person in your chapter who should be receiving these reports. Send the information to Sarah Walsh at sarahw@ashi.org.

CE audit completed

ASHI staff is charged with conducting an annual Continuing Education (CE) hours audit. The 100 members, who were chosen at random, had until March 16 to submit their documentation to HQ. If the documentation did not verify the required number of hours, the inspector failed the audit and was placed on Administrative Suspension.Questions? Contact sarahw@ashi.org.

Order IW photos and education session files

Photos and education session audio/Powerpoint files are available now. InspectionWorld Orlando offered 31 educational sessions. These sessions were all recorded as Webex recorded presentation (WRF) files (which contain synchronized audio and Powerpoint), and are available to you for purchase. The audio of each session is also available – in both standard “wave” audio and MP3 formats.

Session DVDs are available either by track, as a complete set or by individual session. Attendees will receive special pricing. Go to www.InspectionWorld.org to order.

Looking for speakers for chapter meetings?

Some of ASHI’s Affiliate companies and Endorsed Program providers (Partners) are willing to provide speakers or materials for chapter education sessions. Contact them for ideas.
