InspectionWorld 2005: 56,700 Seconds of Fun

by Angela Orlando November 1, 2004

There are 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour and 60 seconds in a minute.

InspectionWorld 2005 lasts three days. That’s 72 hours, or 4,320 minutes or 259,200 seconds. Educational events take up 17 hours. Yep, 1,020 minutes…61,200 seconds. Assuming you plan to sleep eight hours each night of the show…that’s another 1,440 minutes or 86,400 seconds wasted (I mean used). You should also DEFINITELY spend as much time as possible in the exhibit hall checking out all the vendors have to offer. I’d allow at least 10 hours for that (600 minutes; 36,000 seconds) since there’s a lot to see.

So, in total, you have 183,600 seconds of your time in Austin covered by education, exhibits and sleep. What can you possibly do to fill the other 75,600 seconds of your time?

Socialize and network, of course! We’ll help you by offering a slew of special events and activities created specifically to make the most of your time. Here’s a breakdown of what’s happening.

Exhibit Hall Lunch, Thursday, 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.: To give you more time with exhibitors, we’ve added a concession voucher lunch. You’ll be able to choose from a variety of foods and beverages and, since you will not have to leave the building for lunch, you’ll be able to satisfy your appetite and your business needs at the same time. (9,000 seconds)

Opening Night Reception, Thursday, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.: We’ll kick off the conference “Texas Style” on the exhibit hall show floor. Soak up the Texas atmosphere as you visit with some of the industry’s top suppliers while enjoying great food or a nice cold beverage from one of the many bars scattered around the room. We’ll even have an acclaimed Western swing band strolling the room for your entertainment pleasure. So mix and mingle, eat and drink and have a great time – “Texas Style”! (7,200 seconds)

All Show Destination Luncheon, Friday, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.: Everyone is invited to attend this event as we spotlight our destination for InspectionWorld 2006, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, through tropical décor, entertainment, and food and a special presentation by a representative of the Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. (7,200 seconds)

Daily Continental Breakfasts and Refreshment Breaks: We’re giving you extra time each day to grab a cup of coffee and chat with your peers, check your e-mail or just chill. (22,500 seconds)

ASHI Annual President’s Gala, “A Festive Finale,” Saturday,  7:00 p.m. – 10:00
p.m.: Culminate a successful and busy week at the ASHI Annual President’s Gala. Join us as we recreate the atmosphere of a classic Supper Club with great food, top-notch entertainment and special surprises. The evening surely will be remembered as one of the highlights of InspectionWorld 2005! (10,800 seconds).

So, that’s it…56,700 seconds worth of stuff to do, leaving 18,900 seconds for you to spend however you choose (that’s ONLY 315 minutes, which is just over five hours…)

InspectionWorld 2005 will be held January 13-15, 2005, at the Hilton Austin in Austin, Texas. Register either via fax with the registration form found in this issue of the Reporter, or online at www.inspectionworld.org.

See you in Austin!
