Wade Elrod
Born in Anderson, South Carolina, Wade was a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Education and later completed a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of South Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army for nearly 26 years, including two combat tours in Vietnam for which he was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action, four Bronze Star Medals and the Purple Heart. He also served at numerous national and international posts, and a tour of duty at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

In 1987, Wade went to work as an inspector for HomeTech Systems, Inc., Bethesda, Md. later serving as Director of Training and Education. He served ASHI at both the local and national levels. Recently he played a pivotal role in legislation regarding the licensing and certification of home inspectors in Maryland.  Fellow MAC ASHI Chapter Member JD Grewell said Wade worked tirelessly over the years on the behalf of all and will be sorely missed.

Wade is survived by his mother and sister, Gail, his wife of 43 years, and their son and daughter and their families.

Steve Vermilye
The members and board of the Metro Chapter and Hudson Valley Chapter of ASHI regretfully acknowledge the passing in June of long time friend and associate Steve Vermilye of New Paltz, NY.  A kind and compassionate man, he will long be remembered as a respected teacher and contributor to the home inspection industry.  We sincerely believe many of the unique qualities of this highly successful and generous person have been passed on to his children and will live on through them. His dedication to our organization and industry will be deeply missed.

Donations in his name can be made to the Sloop Clearwater, a long-established environmental group active in the Hudson River as well as other areas of the US. Clearwater. ATTN: Rebecca Zilinski, 112 Little Market St., Poughkeepsie, NY 126010
