How to Set Your Metro Search Area on ASHI.org

by Edited by ASHI Staff April 1, 2005

Of the 3,506 ASHI Inspectors eligible to add communities to the Metro Search Area under our Find an Inspector area, a total of 2,180 are not listed. That means more than half of the ASHI membership who are eligible have not taken advantage of this important membership benefit that helps drive business their way.

1. Log on as a member to the ASHI Web site.

(Hint: You will need your ASHI membership number. If you have never logged on before, your password is “password.”)

2. Click on Find an Inspector and Web Settings on the left side of the page.

3. Click on Find an Inspector Settings – Metro Area Search Neighborhoods. Use  the pull-down menus to select the metro areas nearest to you. Choose up to three metro areas.

4. Click Submit changes.

Metro search category changes require chapter president approval

When the metro search option was added to the Find an Inspector area on the Web site, it was understood that some changes to the categories might be necessary.
Chapter presidents may want to explain to chapter members that while ASHI Inspectors are invited to make suggestions for adding new categories or changing the existing one, the suggestions must be approved by the chapter president before being submitted to HQ.

To begin the process, the ASHI Inspector downloads the request form from the Web site, fills it out and gives it to the chapter president for review. Once approved by the chapter president, it can be sent to HQ.

Forms received at HQ without the chapter president’s approval are returned to the chapter.
