Hello!
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Steve Hawkins, and I am the new Director of Communications, replacing the retired Sandy Bourseau. (Although I am increasingly finding out that Sandy is practically irreplaceable.) One deciding issue in choosing to accept this position with ASHI was the memory of my home inspector when I was about to purchase my last home 11 years ago. I still remember the man because I can recall how struck I was with his knowledge, thoroughness and professionalism. I don’t know for sure after all these years if he was ASHI certified, but looking at ASHI’s Standards and Practices and Code of Ethics and its professional staff and committed Board of Directors, it leads me to believe that he probably was.
So I wanted to let you know how happy I am to be associated with such an organization. I have over 20 years of experience in publishing, marketing and public relations. And while my wife can tell you that most of my home projects look like something from “Postcards from the Field,” I assure you that when it comes to communications, I will try to maintain the same professionalism that has come to be associated with ASHI.
