What a Great Way to Start the New Year – at InspectionWorld Nashville

The changing of the guard — new ASHI officers and directors installed — will take place during the ASHI Annual Breakfast Meeting on Monday, January 13.

Exhibitors Expo

Industry vendors offer information on the most advanced equiptment, supplies and services. Enjoy breakfasts, lunches and breaks in the Expo Hall while networking and gathering information to help your business excel in today’s challenging economy. The Expo opens with the annual ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 12. From 5-8 p.m. that evening, join other home inspectors and guests at the Opening Night Reception – an evening of wining, dining and visiting with the exhibitors. The Expo Hall will remain open after the reception until 9:00 p.m.

Gala Evening

An event to be remembered. This year’s gala will take place in the Nashville Renaissance Hotel’s beautiful, Grand Ballroom. The evening begins with a cocktail reception and a scrumptious dinner and continues with entertainment and dancing.

1. Plan ahead

2. Arrive early, stay later

Attend one of the four excellent pre-conference courses. The expo hall officially opens at 3:00 p.m. and the Opening Night Reception begins at 5:00 p.m. The expo hall is a vibrant, bustling center of activity. Plan to meet up with old friends and connect with new ones. Refreshments will be served and large tables are available for relaxing and conversation.

3. Make connections

Hand out business cards and introduce yourself to other home inspectors; swap stories and exchange ideas. Collect business cards and write notes on the back to remember the person. Visit the vendors who are ready to assist you with the latest in inspector tools and services. Be sure to stop at the ASHI booth to meet the ASHI staff and check out the newest merchandise. Associates: Meet with Jim Johnson – ASHI Verifier, who will verify your reports and answer questions.

New this Year – NEW to ASHI Event: For new ASHI members and first-time IW attendees, a special event to welcome you and to introduce you to ASHI member benefits, ASHI staff and a path to success.

4. Take notes

A padfolio and pen are provided in your conference bag. Three full days of educational sessions include a wide variety of topics from basics to advanced, specialties, diversification and business management. The 45 sessions will be taught by dozens of the industry’s leading experts. Many topics and presenters are new this year.

After each presentation, ask yourself what struck you, what did you learn? Perhaps there was a specific tip that you could adapt in your own work. What key take-away from each presentation is worth additional consideration?

5. Include time for fun

The Opening Night Reception, President’s Gala Dinner and Dance, and ASHI Annual Business and Networking Breakfast are scheduled events where you and your colleagues can gather and share good times. Be sure to take time to step out and see the sights of exciting Nashville. The Nashville Convention Center is just steps away from a host of interesting sites: Honky Tonk Highway, the Ryman Auditorium and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

After the conference, don’t let the connections die. The most valuable thing from a conference is the connections you make, people you meet. Follow up with friends or instructors with an email or text message, continue the relationship and say, “See you next year at IW Philadelphia.”
