Floored
Here is a picture of a failed floor truss system. It was installed backward putting the load point out in the span. The hall truss had no load, so it appeared to be high.
The homeowner “repaired” it by removing a portion of the block in the support wall and cutting the mud seal. Then he added a chain and turn buckle to a ground anchor so he could pull the truss down to its current position. When it started sinking too fast he installed a brick on its end between the truss and the block wall.

Gimme Shelter
Here’s a wide shot and a close up of an installation that serves as a weird reminder of cold war history — a manual air supply for a bomb shelter. It’s ducted to the outside, so it could be cranked open to bring fresh air inside.
