Fact or Fiction: You Tell Us
For a new profession, home inspection apparently has its fair share of myths —those bits of technical misinformation that have been repeated often enough to be embraced by many as facts. At least, that’s what our membership is telling us.
If that’s the case, we’d like to hear from those of you who aspire to be home inspection mythbusters—home inspectors who can quote a widely held technical belief and provide the information needed to convince the members of ASHI’s Technical Committee that it is more fiction than fact.
There are no prizes for being a mythbuster, only the satisfaction of imagining hundreds, maybe thousands, of your peers saying, “Wow, I never knew that.” And, of course, your 15 minutes of fame as an ASHI mythbuster.
If you’re ready to rid the profession of a frequently repeated myth, let’s get started.
E-mail the myth you’d like to debunk, and the evidence that it is, in fact, not true, to Sandy Bourseau at sandyb@ashi.org. Please include illustrations and a photo of yourself when possible.
