Directors Election
Voting members of the Council of Representatives participated in the election of five ASHI Directors and one alternate. The election, which closed December 5, 2007, resulted in a tie between Tony Smith and Tom Lauhon for the fifth director position.
A runoff election was held, which closed in time for one to be sworn in as director and the other as alternate director at the January 18, 2008, Annual Business Meeting in New Orleans, La. See the monthly e-newsletters (First Thing, The Inspector) and the March ASHI Reporter for the results.
Strategic Planning
Plexus Consulting Group, specialists in organizational development, conducted a survey of home inspectors, both members and non-members, and an organizational assessment on ASHI’s behalf. Based on the results, ASHI completed a comprehensive strategic plan in 2007. Highlights of that plan include the following:
- Vision – ASHI is the standard for property inspections.
- Mission – To set and promote standards for property inspections and to provide the educational programs needed to achieve excellence in the profession.
- Goals – To develop third-party recognized programs; expand and increase participation in ASHI’s education programs; and increase non-dues revenue.
The ASHI Board of Directors is now setting priorities and carrying forward on the tasks identified as necessary to reach those goals
and complete the plan over a three-year period. Watch for details of the new plan in future issues of the ASHI Reporter.
