Bringing excitement and freshness to ASHI’s purpose
ASHI Mission Statement
To set and promote standards for property inspections and to provide the educational programs needed to achieve excellence in the profession.
A mission statement is a statement of the purpose of the organization, its reason for existing. It should guide the actions of the organization, spell out its overall goal, provide a path and guide decision-making.
We recently received a request to give ASHI’s mission statement greater visibility. We’ll share it with you this month and then leave it up to your new communications team to find innovative ways to carry out ASHI’s statement of purpose.
A new team will be in place because after more than a dozen years, this will be the last publication Judy Delvoye and I will be doing for ASHI. She’s taking advantage of new opportunities and I’m retiring. Looking back, it’s astounding to see how our jobs have changed — from publishing print communication and marketing materials to facilitating committees; publishing the Reporter and First Thing electronically; designing, building and updating web sites; developing and managing social media; and on and on. It’s been a challenging and rewarding experience for both of us. We’ll miss working with the members whose contributions made it possible for us to produce work we were proud of and who also made it fun.
Your new communications team will bring a sense of excitement and freshness to communicating with you and to helping you carry out ASHI’s mission. It’s the beginning of a new era. We wish you the best.
