ASHI Now on YouTube
According to Wikipedia, YouTube is a video-sharing website, on which users can upload, view and share videos. It uses Adobe Flash Video and HTML5 technology to display a wide variety of user-generated video content, including movie clips, TV clips and music videos, as well as amateur content such as video blogging and short original videos.
Most of the content on YouTube has been uploaded by individuals, although media corporations including CBS, the BBC, VEVO, Hulu and other organizations offer some of their material via the site.
In October, ASHI joined those other organizations, telling its story on YouTube through three professionally created videos. Two focus on the benefits of belonging to the society: “Benefits of Membership: ASHI Brings the Client to You,” by Marvin Goldstein, ASHI 2012 president, and “Benefits of Membership: ASHI Offers Cutting-Edge Education,” by Bill Jacques, ASHI 2012 president-elect. The purpose of this series is to remind current members of their benefits and to recruit new members.
The third video is intended for consumers. On it, Bill Loden, ASHI 2012 vice president, provides “Home Safety Tips from an ASHI Inspector.”
ASHI marches steadily ahead in the realm of social media. The Facebook fan page has proven to be popular with the public, continuing to collect likes (1,205), shares (53 on one post) and comments. ASHI tweets are retweeted with regularity and designated as favorites, and ASHI members join the Official LinkedIn discussion group daily.
Members are encouraged to participate to give ASHI social media even greater vitality than it enjoys today.
