Board Meeting Update
Highlight s from the July Board of Directors and Town Hall Meetings
The town hall meeting in Portland, Ore., gave ASHI’s officers and directors the opportunity to talk with the membership from the Northwest region, including those who traveled to Portland from Hawaii, Montana, California, Washington and Alaska.
In addition to attending the town hall meeting, the board conducted business and took the following actions:
• Sent member category name changes to the Bylaws Committee to prepare for a vote. Voting Members will be asked to approve the following changes to ASHI’s membership categories:
1. ASHI Associate (replaces Candidate)
2. ASHI Associate with Logo Use Privileges (a new category)
3. ASHI-Certified Inspector (replaces Member)
4. A new category, such as professional affiliate, for individuals who work in the home inspection profession, but don’t inspect homes.
The proposed changes are intended to help the Society grow by better differentiating membership categories. Members will receive a ballot later this year.
• Approved awarding up to 8 MRCs for a non-core home inspection curriculum course as long as it is an ASHI Chapter-sponsored event. For example, if a chapter offers a wood-destroying insect, radon or mold course, it can be approved for up to 8 MRCs. (The one MRC-per-hour policy still applies.)
