Question

Please clarify the apparent contradiction between Section 12.1.A.2 and Section 12.2.A.1. The former requires vent systems, flues and chimneys to be inspected and the latter exempts the interiors of flues and chimneys.

Response

Section 12.1.A.2 does require that vent systems, flues and chimneys be inspected. Section 12.2.A.1 assumes that the interiors of flues and chimneys are not visually accessible and, therefore, excludes the interiors from the requirement for inspection.
