Question

7.1.B.3. The wiring methods - What are you looking for? 8.1.B.2. The heating method, etc.. Please explain what you want. 9.1.B.2. The cooling method etc.. Please explain.

Response

Section 7.1.B.3 states: The inspector shall describe the wiring methods. "Describe is defined as: To report a system or component by its type or other observed, significant characteristics to distinguish it from other systems or components And "wiring methods" is defined as: Identification of electrical conductors or wires by their general type, such as "non-metallic sheathed cable" ("Romex"), "armored cable" ("bx") or "knob and tube", etc.

Sections 8.1.B.2 and 9.1.B.2, in fact all sections requiring the inspector to "describe", need descriptions sufficient to distinguish the particular system or component from other similar systems or components (ie. forced air gas furnace, heat pump, electric baseboard, electric, etc.). Beyond this requirement, any additional level of description is left to the judgment of the inspector.
