Question

Does "through-wall cooling equipment" include through-window air conditioners?

Response

No. The Standards state in Section 9.1.A that inspectors shall: "inspect the installed central and through-wall cooling equipment.

"Section 9.1.B states inspectors shall "describe:

1) the energy source and

2) the cooling method by its distinguishing characteristics."

Through-wall cooling equipment, no matter the style, must be inspected and reported as required by Section 9. This would include heat pumps, air-conditioning units, or evaporative systems whether 120 or 240V, hard-wired or plug-in. Window-mounted air conditioner units are considered household appliances and do not require inspection.
