Just weeks after approving electronic voting, Members again voiced their enthusiasm for this option by accessing individual secure Web sites to cast their votes within hours of receiving a bylaws amendment ballot. Instructions for electronic and paper voting were mailed on May 24 with the ballot for proposed amendments to bylaws covering the composition of the Council of Representatives (COR), and the eligibility of the Board Alternate after being called on to serve. The Board of Directors approved sending the proposed amendments to voting Members at its April meeting. Although the deadline for receiving votes was July 11, many chose to vote electronically within hours of receiving their ballot and instructions.
ASHI selected The Myers Group to conduct the Society’s first electronic vote based on its experience in providing secure and confidential Web sites for voting, and it's past success in coordinating programs with more than one type of ballot, requiring monitoring systems for duplicate voting.
Electronic voting makes it easier for Members to cast their votes, and saves money for the Society.
